How to play D/A

  1. Lay your first finger flat across the D, G and B strings at the seventh fret.
  2. Place your fourth finger on the tenth fret of the high E string.
  3. Strum only the D, G, B and high E strings.

Tips for new players

  • Keep your thumb behind the neck and let your fingers arch.
  • Press just behind the fret, not on top of it, so every string rings clearly.
  • Play the plain chord first, then this slash chord, and listen to how the new bass note changes the sound.
