Today’s my little girl’s birthday. She’s no longer the tiny little baby that lives in my memory. She is instead standing on the threshold of adult and young womanhood. In celebration, here’s a practical and timely practice exercise for all of you aspiring guitarists out there: Happy Birthday. It’s my preferred version of “Happy Birthday” from the various different versions available on songsterr.com. Using all four fingers and moving across the high E, B, and G strings, this version of Happy Birthday feels a little like a spider walk exercise. It’s great practice and super practical.
