How to play Am/E

  1. Place your first finger on the first fret of the B string.
  2. Place your second finger on the second fret of the D string.
  3. Place your third finger on the second fret of the G string.
  4. Strum all six strings.

Tips for new players

  • Keep your thumb behind the neck and let your fingers arch.
  • Press just behind the fret, not on top of it, so every string rings clearly.
  • Play the basic chord first, then this inversion, and listen to how smoothly the bass note moves.
