I just ordered, “Teach Yourself How to Play Famous Guitar Songs, Guitar Chords, Music Theory & Technique (Book & Streaming Video Lessons)“. It’s the top result for guitar lessons on Amazon and has some pretty good ratings. I’m going to roll the dice here and hope that the wisdom of the crowd pays off for me. The book seems to have online resources that I can access so it won’t all be paper based learning.
I’ve been testing out the trial versions of Fender Play and other online guitar learning apps. They all seem to have free trial periods, so I’m going to give them all a go. They’re subscriptions, which I really don’t like. Fender Play is $149.99, which is more than my guitar! I’m hoping that the book is a cheaper, better alternative to paying the subscription fees.
Hindsight Notes: This book is old and outdated
Don’t waste your money on this book. I bought this book thinking that it be better if I had something in paper in front of me so that I could stop and reference things when I needed to. The thing is that the book claims to have links to videos and other helpful online resources to help you on your guitar journey. That might have been true when the book published in 2017, but that certainly isn’t the case 6-7 years later.
The online videos and resources are no longer available. They’re a bunch of broken links and promises. I find that you’re much better off using online resources. I’ve
