My first electric guitar! I am so excited.
As I started to tune this up, I managed to break my B-string. I have no idea what I’m doing with this.
A quick trip to Guitar Center and 10 bucks later…everything is fixed. I know we’re talking Guitar Center here, but strings changes and setups are a lot more expensive than I thought they’d be. I’m so new to guitar that I really have no idea how to do many of the basic things with a guitar. Changing or replacing strings is one case in point.
First Impressions
The new Epi is used. I think whoever owned it before had it setup or did the setup themselves. It plays well coming out of the box. The action is pretty low and I am really enjoying how easy it is to play compared to my Rogue acoustic. What a difference.
The Epi is so much easier and more comfortable to play and hold. My acoustic is a dreadnaught and I never realized how uncomfortable it was to hold. I just thought that this was the way things are with guitar. The body is thinner and makes it so much easier to have in my lap. With the dreadnaught, I feel like i’m hugging a barrel. And the thing is, I’m not short. I have fairly long arms and I still find the Rogue uncomfortable to hold. I can manage it without any real problems, but it’s not something I prefer to do. I think that’s one of the lessons I pull away from picking up my first electric.
