If you’re a Fender Play student, or a guitar student out there learning Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd, here are some useful guitar tutorial suggestions for you. On Fender Play, “Another Brick in the Wall” comes up on Level 2, Course 02, Electric Guitar, Rock Genre. It’s a beginner exercise that stays on the D string and focuses on helping the student practice using the open D and the 2nd and 3rd frets.
As you get better and move on through the Fender Play lessons, you might want to revisit the song. Here are some suggestions for revisiting the song as you advance through Fender Play.
Fender Play: Level 4, Course 08 Reading Rhythm, Rests Extra Credit
For those of you who have gotten to Fender Play “Level 4, Course 08: Reading Rhythm, Rests”, you’ll have started practicing rests with Matt Lake. After you’ve become comfortable with the rest exercises, you may want to challenge yourself with the “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2” clean electric guitar section. It’s a 5:8 time, 104 bps tab for the clean guitar portion of the song. What I like about it is that it’s faster and made up of 1/4 note and 1/8 note rests. You’re fretting the same notes throughout most of the tab. It allows you to focus on rests and muting without having to think very much about chord or note changes. Am I any good at it yet. hell no. It’s taking me far longer than I’d like, but it’s a challenging practice for me that I’ve incorporated into my practice routine.
Fender Play: Level 7, Course 05, Barre Chords Extra Credit
If you’ve reached Fender Play Level 7, Course 05: Barre Chords, you’re ready to return to “Another Brick in the Wall”. The following lesson in Fender Play, Level 7, Course 06, electric guitar, rock genre, takes you back to an advanced practice lesson for the song. If you want additional tips or another perspective on the song, take a look at Marty Music’s “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2.” tutorial. I’ve looked at it, but I’m still working on mastering the barre F with Justin Guitar and don’t think I’m ready to commit the time to taking this one on.
