Scales
A scale is a set of notes that sound good together. Learning scales helps you play melodies, build solos and see how the notes are laid out on the guitar neck. Every scale page shows fretboard diagrams for left- and right-handed players.
Major scales
The major scale is the best place to start. It has a bright, familiar sound, and many songs are built from it. Choose a key to see the scale in seven positions up the neck, from the open strings to the 15th fret.
